As he addressed leaders of the BRICS group of emerging economies, including his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday ( October 23 ), China’s president Xi Jinping stated that there must be” no escalation of fighting” in Ukraine.
The largest political conference held in Russia since Putin’s order to send troops to Ukraine in 2022 is taking place in Kazan, which is home to around 20 world leaders.
Beijing maintains that it is a balanced group in the fight, but American forces have harshly criticized it for supporting Moscow, a long-time alliance, with diplomatic and economic backing.
” The Ukraine problems drags on… We must agree to the three rules of ‘ little spillover from the battle, no escalation of fighting and no adding fuel to the flames by appropriate parties’, so as to ease the situation as soon as possible”, Xi said on Wednesday.
However, China has usually been friendly to the Arab trigger, and Xi reiterated Beijing’s status to “push for a peace” in Gaza at the earliest possible opportunity.
” The fight between the parties concerned is more escalating”, Xi said.
” We need to… stop the dying and work hard for a thorough, just and lasting arrangement of the Arab problem”.
