VIENTIANE:  , US Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned Beijing’s “increasingly dangerous” actions in the South China Sea as he met leaders of the ASEAN bloc in Laos on Friday ( Oct 11 ).
In recent months, China has deployed military and coast guard ships to release the Philippines from three South China Sea reefs and islands, which are crucially significant.
Additionally, it has been raising tensions with a disputed area group in the East China Sea, rattling Tokyo and its supporters.
Blinken addressed South Asian leaders gathering in Vientiane, Laos, and expressed concern about China’s extremely risky and unlawful activities on the South and East China Seas, which have injured people, damaged vessels from ASEAN countries, and violate international agreements to peacefully resolve disputes.
He said,” The United States will continue to support freedom of navigation and overflight in the Indo-Pacific.”
The best minister added that the US hoped to work with ASEAN officials to “protect balance across the Taiwan Strait,” a source of ongoing hostility with China.
Beijing this month denounced notes by Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te who vowed to “resist conquest” by China, which claims the self-governing politics.
