IN FOCUS: What’s the secret sauce behind Malaysia football’s revival, and does it hold lessons for arch-rival Singapore?

There were also 10 combined- identity people called up for the Asian Cup – Matthew Davies, Daniel Ting, Dominic Tan, Junior Eldstal, Dion Cools, La’Vere Corbin- Ong, Stuart Wilkin, Brendan Gan, Natxo Insa and Darren Lok. &nbsp,

Malaysia, along with Hong Kong, had the highest amount of naturalised and merged- identity people at the game.

” The complete idea was to cultivate a winning tradition by hiring naturalised people as a quick fix to our problems … It was mooted as a short- word determine”, said Mr Rizal. &nbsp,

” I think this has benefited the Malaysian team in terms of effectiveness. But at the same day, we need to keep developing our native talent and give them the room to make the move away”.

The use of naturalised people has both positive and negative consequences, Mr Avineshwaran believes. While there is possibility for regional- born players to learn from their naturalised counterparts, there are concerns the latter will usually get picked ahead of the nearby- born ones, he said.

” The attitude of some visitors is if there are naturalised people, they must be used”, he said. &nbsp,

That said, some naturalised people are “tactically very intelligent” and” hold themselves properly on and off the pitch”, said Mr Avineshwaran.

” Their professionalism is at a high level. They are leaders in the team and push the team to go all out”, he said, adding the situation is similar with Indonesia, who have seen an improvement with the inclusion of many mixed- heritage players. &nbsp,

An over- reliance on naturalised players, however, cannot be a long- term solution, he said. ” Local talents need to be prioritised. We do not want to erode the brand of Malaysia, which is its people, its multiracialism”.

Mr Kamaruddin agrees naturalised players should not dominate a squad at the expense of the development of local- born players.

” It ca n’t be a situation where all the players on the field are Mat Salleh ( a colloquial term referring to white people ). If this continues, the locals will say there is no future for them”, he said. &nbsp, &nbsp,

Malaysia suspended its naturalisation policy for the national team in 2021. But the option remains for clubs in the domestic league, and the programme continues to be criticised. &nbsp,

In January, former Tiger James Wong questioned if the current national team is” Malaysian enough” and whether the naturalised players would stay on in Malaysia after finishing their careers, news site Free Malaysia Today reported.

Mr Avineshwaran cited Qatar’s system of naturalising players but, at the same time, working at developing its own players through the Aspire Academy. &nbsp,

Qatar has produced players like Akram Afif, who graduated from the Academy in 2015. He scored a hat- trick in February’s Asian Cup final against Jordan and was named the most valuable player of the tournament. &nbsp,

Myanmar army moves to enlist first batch of civilians into military

HOW Volunteers ‘ Coaching MIGHT HAPPEN

Another qualified reservist who showed up at his neighborhood administrative company claimed to be one of about 40 people who received the call. Of those who turned up- about two- next- seven were exempted, with one of them obviously diagnosed with disease.

A latent recruitment law mandated by the Myanmar military that was passed in first February required candidates to serve in the military.

The military quoted the government’s Constitution, stating that every member has a duty to safeguard Myanmar’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. It stated that about 5, 000 volunteers may be enlisted in the first round of enrollment in April.

Women are currently exempt from company, but the decision has sparked concern among those who are available. The military denies that it intends to use human soldiers as mortal shields, a claim that opponents of this enlistment law make.

The volunteers are likely to be given hands as soon as they leave program, according to former army commander Kaung Thu Win, who told CNA.

” The military does not determine a student’s progress thoroughly – such as the student’s skills or whether they are ready for war or not”, he said.

” The military’s teaching method is to instil dread in new recruits. For example, if they’re ordered to line up, they will have to line up. They are only allowed to eat when it is appropriate to have. They can be dismissed just when given consent. No one would dare to disagree with the attempt because anyone who disobeys it does face punishment.

Conscription, according to safety experts, may increase crime. The army and its allies have been engaged in conflict since the revolution, which is already continued.

Commentary: What China’s two sessions tells us about where Xi Jinping is headed

SECURITY TRUMPS ECONOMY

In his final statement last year, it is obvious that Mr. Xi has been placing protection and social stability preceding economic growth, stating that” stability is the prerequisite for prosperity, and security is the foundation for development.” While Mr Xi did not speak this time, the gathering signalled stability.

China changed the State Council Organic Law to mandate that the Cabinet “resolutely uphold” the Communist Party of China’s authority and “resolutely apply” the Central Committee’s choices. This change properly shifts power from the condition to the group by removing the separation of gathering and state that Deng Xiaoping implemented in 1982. &nbsp,

The legislation also requests that the State Council promote and support Mr. Xi’s social philosophy, known as the Xi Jinping Thought, to help strengthen his authority over China’s government and society.

After Washington restricted Beijing’s access to advanced silicon chips and investment in areas with military uses, economic growth is also seen through the lens of national security.

Pledges to science and technology to the tune of 370.8 billion yuan ( US$ 51.6 billion ) aim to boost domestic technology and higher- technology self- reliance, include biomanufacturing, quantum computing, electric cars and hydrogen power.

China has searched for new approaches to economic growth based on science and modern innovation under the slogan “new successful forces.” It tries to move emphasis away from the property sector and investment in infrastructure, two of the country’s traditional economic drivers.

However, the focus on” comprehensive national protection,” which involves maintaining control over technology and science and imposing restrictions on private enterprise, was ultimately stymie economic development.

‘Different logic’: China EV firm XPeng CEO says he will not speed into global market

WAR EXPECTED TO END TWO TO THREE YEARS

He anticipates that China’s fierce EV industry will experience a two to three-year price war as gasoline-fueled cars even seek to lower costs to maintain market share.

China is the world’s largest Vehicle business with a penetration level of 35.7 per share next year, up 8 percentage points year- on- year.

But Mr He expressed enthusiasm, calling it” good business contest”.

” It will not last for many years. I believe that once it reaches a period, your rivals may eventually stabilize. At this time, you may use better R&amp, D ( research and development ), better value and stable prices to serve clients well”, he said.

” I think this is a process. From a business standpoint, everyone will have challenges in the brief- word, we say we are really’ juan’ ( Chinese slang for competitive ). But in the medium- name, it makes the business bigger and perhaps stronger”.

According to Mr. He, XPeng must also create items that are more technologically advanced and effective.

” If you’re just making the same thing, for cheaper, I do n’t think it’s necessary”, he added.

His wish is that XPeng is ultimately alter how people travel by making it safer and more effective. &nbsp,

Mr He predicted that in 10 to 20 times, vehicles will be extremely intelligent.

” On your own, just 5 to 15 % of people can fly between cities and provinces,” he said. I believe this is what we want to do, adding that other people also use railways or other modes of transportation plus vehicles.
