Apple offers iPhone discounts in China as competition intensifies

As the US tech giant struggles to compete with rising domestic rivals like Huawei, Apple is offering rare discounts of up to 500 yuan ( US$ 68.50 ) on its most recent iPhone models in China.

The four-day advertising, running from Jan 4 to 7, applies to many phone versions when purchased using certain repayment methods, according to its site.

The highest discount may be applied to the phone 16 Pro, the lineup model, starting at 7,999 renminbi, and the phone 16 Pro Max, which has a starting price of 9,999 yuan. The phone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus does get a 400 renminbi decline.

The savings come as consumers remain optimistic with paying amid China’s slowing economy and negative pressures, with the country’s consumer prices hitting a five-month lower in November.

Apple is grappling with declining market share in China, the nation’s largest device market, where local companies have intensified competitors.
