The core of the 7.7 scale collapse was in an area held by dictatorship forces, but the devastation is common and even affected some province held by armed opposition movements.

On Sunday, the criticism National Unity Government, which includes relics of the state ousted in 2021, said anti-junta armies under its control would pause all unpleasant military motion for two weeks.

Richard Horsey, the older Myanmar director at Crisis Group, said some anti-junta troops have halted their insurgencies but fighting continues abroad.

” The program also continues to build attacks, including in affected areas. That needs to stop”, he said.

He added that the government was not providing little apparent support in quake-hit places.

” Regional fire brigades, emergency crews, and society organisations have mobilised, but the military, who would ordinarily be mobilised to assist in such a turmoil, are nowhere to be seen”, Horsey said.
