Aliff Aziz, 33, and Ruhainies, 31, both of whom are Malaysian actresses, entered a not-guilty plea on Wednesday ( 3/30 ), which comes after the pair was detained by Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department ( Jawi ) officers at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 9.
Aliff and Ruhainies were charged under Section 27 ( a ) and Section 27 ( b ), respectively, of the Syariah Criminal Offences ( Federal Territories ) Act 1997 which carries a maximum fine of RM3, 000 ( US$ 637 ) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both, if found guilty.
The Federal Territory Syariah High Court in Kuala Lumpur, Aliff and Ruhainies addressed reporters outside and apologised to the government for the smooth running of the case. In addition, the two reporters clarified that they arrived at the court separately and were n’t engaged in conversation despite reports from some media outlets.
Aliff explained that he had been resting “mentally, emotionally and physically”.
” I’m also a normal human being, even though I’ve made blunders. So I’m taking this time to rest and spent time with my family… and produce my family relationships closer”.
When asked about her thoughts on Aliff’s ex- wife Bella Astillah” congratulating” her for” successfully destroying ( Bella’s ) marriage”, Ruhanies replied:” Since today ‘s]proximity ] case involves a separate issue, I do n’t want to touch on]Bella’s ] case”.
The test will begin in October, and the loan bonds for Ruhainies, Aliff, and others have even been extended.
