Aliff Aziz and Ruhainies plead guilty to close proximity charges, receive fine

On February 21, a reversal of their not-guilty plea from July 2024, a Singaporean actor-singer, Aliff Aziz, 34, and a Malaysian actress, Ruhainies, 32, pleaded guilty to khalwat ( close proximity ) charges.

In March of this year, Aliff, who was married at the time, and Ruhainies were detained by members of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department at a property in Kuala Lumpur on fear of being in close proximity.

On February 20 and 27, the test for the match was scheduled to start.

Nevertheless, the Federal Territories Syariah Prosecution Department stated in a statement on February 27 that the accused ‘ lawyers informed the court that both consumers intended to change their appeal and requested that the meeting be changed to February 21.

Upon entering a guilty plea, Aliff and Ruhainies were ordered to pay a fine of RM3,000 ( US$ 672 ) or three months of imprisonment, if the fine was not paid.

Both stars have since paid their charges, according to Malaysian media sources.
