Albania’s ex-PM says UK has barred him from entering

TIRANA: Albania’s former president and prime minister, Sali Berisha, stated on Friday (Jul 22) he had already been banned by London from entering the UK for supposedly having links with unlawful groups. The Uk embassy in Tirana said only that the United Kingdom had used action “against various Albanian individuals with connections to criminality and corruption. ” It did not name Berisha.

In a similar move last year, Berisha and his household were barred simply by US Secretary associated with State Antony Blinken from entering america due to what Washington said were tainted acts and misuse of power.

Berisha said in the statement on Friday that all accusations through Washington and London were “based upon slanders. ”“No one else in the government has fought arranged crime, and had the outcomes that I had, ” he said.

Berisha served because president from 1992 to 1997, soon after the fall of communism within Albania, and as primary minister between 2005 and 2013.

Berisha is the de facto leader from the Democratic Party, the greatest opposition party, which he created after the collapse of the communist era.

Berisha does not face any kind of criminal proceedings in Albania.
