In a crucial strategic area of the country’s struggle with AI, China’s President Xi Jinping pledged” self-reliance and self-strengthening” on Saturday ( Apr 26 ), the country’s state media reported on the report.
Xi said China should use its “new full national technique” to advance the development of AI during a review conference held at the Politburo meeting on Friday.
According to the standard Xinhua news agency,” We must acknowledge the cracks and intensify our efforts to fully improve technological innovation, professional development, and AI-empowered programs.”
Xi noted that coverage help may be offered in fields like government contracts, intellectual property rights, research, and talent development.
Some experts claim that over the past year, China has widened the AI growth space with the United States. When DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, unveiled a new AI logic model in January that it claimed was cheaper to create and trained with less sophisticated chips, it gained worldwide attention. China has even advanced in software engineering for system.
The DeepSeek statement challenged the notion that China’s AI sector was being hampered by US sanctions as a result of a brutal political tech conflict and that China was laggard over the US after the successful launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022.
” We must continue to advance basic research, focus our efforts on acquiring key technologies like high-end chips and simple software, and create an independent, stable, and collaborative artificial intelligence fundamental software and hardware system,” Xi said.
He argued that the development of a “risk alert and emergency response system” may be expedited in order to ensure that artificial intelligence is trustworthy, healthy, and manageable.
AI don’t become a “game of rich countries and the wealthy,” according to Xi, who last year called for more global cooperation and oversight.
