Israel military says missile launched from Yemen was likely intercepted

After air raid sirens sounded across&nbsp, Israel, the Israeli military reported on Sunday ( Apr 13 ) that an attempt to intercept an incoming missile launched from Yemen was likely successful.

There was no immediate legal state of responsibility.

Sirens could be audible in Jerusalem at 6:16 p.m. local time ( 11:16 p.m., Singapore time ). Initial reports that two weapons had been launched from Oman by the military were false, but the military later claimed that only one had been fired.

Since the start of the current conflict in Gaza in 2023, Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi movement has launched missiles and drones at Israel, claiming it was supporting Zionists.

During the January-beginning peace between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis had put a stop to their problems. In March, Israel resumed its occupation of Gaza after breaking the peace.

According to Jewish leaders, the war started in October 2023 when Hamas led an assault on southwestern Israeli areas close to Gaza, killing 1, 200 individuals and holding 251 hostages.

More than 50, 000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel’s hostile assault in Gaza, according to health leaders in the Hamas-ruled region.

192 of the 59 victims that Hamas is still holding are both released during settlements or were rescued by Israeli causes.
