
China continues to pose the greatest threat to the US in terms of both military and cyberspace, according to a report from US intelligence agencies that stated Beijing was making” stable but uneven” progress with potential to catch Taiwan.
According to Beijing’s Annual Threat Assessment, China has the ability to strike the US with conventional weapons, settlement US facilities with cyberattacks, and targeted its place assets. Beijing also aims to replace the US as the world’s leading AI electricity by 2030.
Russia, along with Iran, North Korea, and China, aims to use intentional efforts to defeat the US in an effort to gain an advantage, with Moscow’s conflict in Ukraine teaching a “wealth of instructions regarding fight against Western weapons and knowledge in a large-scale war,” according to the report.
The report, which was made public before President Donald Trump’s intelligence chiefs ‘ testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee, claimed that China’s People’s Liberation Army ( PLA ) was likely to use large language models to imitate personas, create fake news, and establish attack networks.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated to the council that” China’s defense is fielding advanced functions, including fast arms, stealth aircraft, advanced boats, stronger space and cyberwar army, and a larger arsenal of nuclear arms.” She described Beijing as” the most effective corporate company” in Washington.
By 2030, China almost definitely has a multidimensional, national-level plan designed to replace the United States as the world’s most influential AI power, according to the document.
According to CIA Director John Ratcliffe, China had just made “intermittent” efforts to stop the flow of precursor chemicals that are responsible for the US fentanyl problems due to its reluctance to repress its grip on profitable Chinese firms.
To punish Beijing for what Trump called its failure to stop fentanyl shipments, Trump has increased tariffs on all Chinese exports by 20 %.
China has denied being a factor in the issue, which is the main reason for US drug overdose deaths. The Trump presidency and Chinese leaders have become a major source of friction over this matter.
Ratcliffe argued that” China can’t do anything to stop it from… cracking down on fentanyl intermediates.”
Liu Pengyu, the representative for China’s embassy in Washington, claimed that the US has much “hyped up” the risk as an excuse for maintaining US defense hegemony.
China is “determined to be a force for peace, security, and progress in the world, and also committed to upholding our national security, regional integrity,” Liu said, adding that “fentanyl misuse is a problem that the United States itself must fight and fix.”
