US imposes trade restrictions on dozens of entities with eye on China

The Commerce Department said in part, in part, that the US added dozens of businesses to a trade blacklist on Tuesday ( Mar 25 ), which would disrupt Beijing’s advanced computing and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The office cited their “activities opposed to US national security and unusual plan” as being at the center of the action, which affects 80 entities from nations including China, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran.

Those who are added to the so-called “entity list” are not permitted to purchase US goods or solutions without government approval.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick issued a statement, saying” We will not allow adversaries to use American technology to strengthen their own forces and endanger American life.”

11 Chinese companies and 1 Taiwanese company are accused of working with Taiwan to create high-performance Artificial chips and supercomputers for China-based users” with close ties to the government’s military-industrial complex” and 11 Chinese companies.

The Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Inspur Group companies are among them.

For” efforts to unsafe nuclear routines” or “ballistic weapon programs,” others were taken into consideration.

According to Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler, the goal is to stop US solutions and products from being used for activities like high-performance technology, fast missiles, and military aircraft education.

According to the Commerce Department, two organizations in Iran and China were likewise added to the list for requests to purchase US goods for Iran’s protection sector and satellite programs.
