China and Russia are ‘true friends’ who ‘support each other’, says Xi to Putin in phone call

BEIJING: President Xi Jinping said China and Russia are” true friends” who” support each other”, state media reported on Monday ( Feb 24 ).

According to Xi, “history and reality demonstrate that China and Russia are good neighbors who can’t be separated, and true friends who support one another and achieve common development” ( ps.

Xi and Putin reportedly had an “update” telephone contact with the Soviet leader on Monday, according to the state media organization.

Since Russia sent soldiers into Ukraine, Moscow and Beijing have strengthened military and business relations, despite China’s efforts to portray itself as a natural group in the almost three-year issue.

It remains a close political and economic partner of Moscow and has never condemned Russia’s steps, leading some NATO members to brand Beijing an “enabler” of the issue.

Both sides have made a lot of of Xi and Putin’s alleged solid individual ties, with Xi calling Putin his “best friend” and Putin praising his reputation as a “reliable mate.”
