A senior Indonesian minister announced that Indonesia and France would sign an agreement on Friday ( Jan 24 ) regarding the repatriation of a Frenchman who is currently on death row for drug offences.  ,  ,  ,
Serge Atlaoui, who has been in prison in Indonesia since 2005, is expected to return to France on Feb 5 or Feb 6, the older minister for law and human rights politics, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, told Reuters.  ,  ,
Atlaoui was given a death sentence for working as a scientist in a Jakarta-arean ecstasy stock, which was able to produce 100 kg of the prohibited substances weekly.
He has huge maintained his innocence, saying he thought he was working in an acrylic shop.
Atlaoui and seven other international prisoners were set to be executed in 2015, but they were given a last-minute relief. He was then given no other legal options after an Indian jury rejected his appeal against the dying word.
The French Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin and Minister Yusril will signal the relocation agreement via video teleconference, according to Yusril.
France has agreed many terms proposed by Indonesia, he said, including respecting the Indonesian court decision over Atlaoui.
” After the transport, all depends on the French government, whether they want to give him clemency or giving sentences according to the French law”, Yusril said.
Based on European legislation, the maximum sentence for a similar situation is 30 years in jail, he added.
Late on Thursday, the justice department of France did not respond to an email request for comment right away.  ,
