” AirTag is an item, not a part or portion of tools”, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita told a media briefing on Wednesday, referring to the Apple monitoring system.
” Until this afternoon, the government doesn’t have any reason to issue the domestic portion level license for Apple materials, especially iPhone 16″, he said.
Agus met with Apple staff on Tuesday, but he said a bargain had not been reached.
He claimed that Indonesian authorities had contacted Apple and that the telecommunications big did not provide an immediate response.
” If Apple wants to sell phone 16 as soon as possible, the puck is in their hand, choose listen to our proposal immediately”, he said.
Apple had recently made an offer to raise US$ 100 million in Indonesia to lift the sales ban on the iPhone 16; however, the Malaysian government rejected the offer in November.
Despite the revenue restrictions, the government permits the trade-in of iPhone 16s in Indonesia if they are not being done so in a commercial manner.
According to the government, about 9, 000 products of the new design have already been imported into the nation.
Google Pixel smartphone in Indonesia were also prohibited from being sold because of their failure to meet the 40 % elements condition.
Despite the ban, about 22, 000 Google Pixel smartphone entered the country last month.
