Trump says he and China’s Xi have been talking through aides

Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, announced on January 6 that he and Chinese leader Xi Jinping had been speaking through members and that he believes the two officials will get along.

” We’ve already been talking. We’ve been talking through their members”, Trump said in an appointment with traditional talk show host Hugh Hewitt.

Trump, who takes office on January 20, described Xi as a strong and powerful figure who he claimed was revered in China.

” And I think we will probably get along very well, I predict”, he said. ” But you know, it’s got to be a two way city”, Trump added, repeating an allegation that China has been “ripping off” the US financially.

Xi and various foreign rulers were invited by Trump to his opening in Washington later this month, but researchers say the Chinese president is unlikely to enter.

Senator Marco Rubio has been appointed as secretary of state in Trump’s coming administration, along with several other China hawks.

Trump has also stated that he will levy an additional 10 % tax on Chinese goods unless Beijing does more to stop the highly narcotic trafficking. While campaigning, he threatened taxes exceeding 60 % on Chinese products.
