Washington welcomed Vietnam’s planning and investment minister on Tuesday ( Jun 25 ) for discussions on enhancing economic cooperation, and the US said ties were stronger than ever after Hanoi upset Washington by hosting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The US State Department said this year’s speech may include financial security, semiconductors, the expense climate, digital economy, cyberspace, energy, and essential minerals.
Next time, Washington upgraded US- Vietnam relations to a” complete proper relationship”.
Vladimir Putin’s trip to Vietnam next year attracted a lot of harsh criticism from the US. In response, Washington later stated that as the US works to combat China’s conflict, it would continue to be on the verge of boosting ties with Hanoi.
Given Vietnam’s current status as a non-market economy with big state influence, the US will have until July 26 to decide whether to elevate it to market-economy status. This would lessen the amount of punitive anti-dumping duties imposed on Asian imports.
” The relation between Vietnam and the U. S. is as powerful, we believe, as it has ever been”, said US Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose Fernandez.
He claimed at the beginning program that trade between the US and Vietnam has increased by US$ 1 billion, making Vietnam the country’s ninth-largest trading partner in terms of goods.
Addressing Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Fernandez said US organization were “very excited”, about Vietnam but added:
We need to make sure that Vietnam has the regulation and decision-making environment they need in order to maintain expanding in your nation while we are bullish on Vietnam.
