India raids network sending citizens to fight for Russia

At least two American soldiers have died in the issue, and some volunteers have claimed to have been sent to the battlefront under false pretenses.

According to a statement released late that evening, Indian Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI ) investigators conducted raids at 13 locations on Thursday ( Mar 7 ) and detained “certain suspects” for interrogation.

According to the statement,” These criminals have been operating as an organized system and were luring Indian nationals into highly paid work in Russia through local connections or agents,” the statement continued.

Contrary to their wishes, trafficked Indian nationals were trained in overcome roles and stationed at forward bases in the Russia-Ukraine War Zone.

The CBI claimed to have found “around 35 cases” of Indians being sent to Russia, but added that it was working to find more probable victims.

The Indian government’s foreign department had previously stated that it was working to get about 20 Indian soldiers discharged from the Soviet army.

The CBI identified four suspects in the community, including Dubai-based Faisal Khan, who had posted job openings for the Russian troops on his social media platform Baba Vlogs.

Khan told AFP next month that he had assisted in the facilitation of 16 American passport holders entering Russia late last year for what he claimed were help positions in the military.

He claimed that he had been taken aback when volunteers were given arms and that he had “decided to put a stop to the selection method.”

In February, a number of American volunteers claimed to have been duped into joining because of promises of higher salaries and Russian documents before being taken to the forefront.

The men who spoke with AFP claimed they had been given non-combatant jobs but that they had received training in using Kalashnikov assault rifle and other arms before being sent to Ukraine.

India has long been a Russian supporter and has never publicly denounced the invasion of Ukraine.

Despite India’s rapid economic expansion, unemployment continues to rise, and a sizable number of people seek work worldwide every year.
