Korean Air plane scrapes Cathay Pacific Airways aircraft at Japan airport

TOKYO: A Korean Air Lines plane clipped a Cathay Pacific Airways aircraft at New Chitose Airport on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on Tuesday (Jan 16), a Korean Air official said.

The accident happened when the Korean Air plane was preparing for take-off, the airline official said.

No injuries were reported, Japanese broadcaster NTV said.

Cathay Pacific confirmed the incident.

“Our aircraft, which was stationary at the time with no customers nor crew onboard, was struck by a Korean Air A330 which was taxiing past,” Cathay said in a statement.

An airport spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
