On the sweltering Sunday afternoon at the Circuit John Ricard, the seven-time world champion documented his best finish of the season by coming second behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen .
Despite the bottle problem, Hamilton said this individual felt “fantastic” following the race.
“I was just a little bit dehydrated, inch he told reporters, for each F1 . “The drinks bottle failed to work in the competition. I don’t really ever drink within the race ever, which means this is the first time I actually tried it all 12 months and there was nothing coming out.

Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate George Russell completed the podium in third place and Hamilton was delighted with the car’s performance all weekend.
“But what a day, what a weekend, ” this individual said. “Especially with missing FP1, [I’m] simply so proud of the particular team — this is an incredible result. Successful races and getting results like this is about the whole package.
“And of course , we know we don’t have quite the pace from the two teams [Ferrari and Red Bull] forward, but reliability will be a major fundamental part of the process so I’m therefore proud of my group for having the reliability that we do have.
“What a great result… George did a great job as well, so to obtain a second and a 3rd, it’s really special for all of us. ”
After plenty of rumours around his future in Formula One, the 37-year-old Hamilton insisted he is desperate to remain in the sport for several years.
At the France GP, Hamilton became just the sixth car owner in F1 background to reach 300 career races and his current contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the 2023 season.
“I’m nevertheless fresh and still feel I’ve got lots of fuel left in the tank, ” Hamilton said. “Of program I want to get back to successful ways and that’s likely to take time. I’m sure we’re going sit down at some phase and talk about the future.
“This is my 300th GP and I woke up incredibly grateful for all the people who have already been with me, ” he added. “Ron Dennis, Mercedes, Martin Whitmarsh, Toto, Niki Lauda… I have been on an incredible journey with them.
