India warns on Canada travel after row over Sikh murder

Outside the Sikh church he presided over in Surrey, an outlying district of Vancouver, two masked attackers shot Nijjar to death.

Nijjar, an advocate for the establishment of the Sikh position known as Khalistan, was sought by American authorities on suspicion of terrorism and murder conspiracy.

The World Sikh Organization of Canada, a nonprofit organization that claims to represent the interests of American sikhs, claims that he had refuted those accusations.

The American government accuses Ottawa of being complicit in the extreme Sikh nationalists’ efforts to establish a sovereign state that would be carved out of northern India.

Since the death of the Sikh head and the protests that followed in Canada, relations between Canada and India have been tense in recent months.

On Tuesday, Trudeau said he expected India to carefully consider the allegations surrounding the killing of Nijjar. He met with Modi outside of this week’s G20 in New Delhi.

He stated that India must treat this situation with the utmost severity. ” We are never trying to provoke or rise; we are just doing that.”

The United States has joined Canada in urging India to make its knowledge of the murder public.

According to a speech from National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson,” We are extremely worried about the claims made by Prime Minister Trudeau.”

” We continue to communicate frequently with our American lovers. It is essential that Canada’s research continue and that the offenders be apprehended.
