China’s top diplomat urges South Korea, Japan to know their ‘roots’

BEIJING: In racially charged remarks to officials from Seoul and Tokyo, China’s top diplomat has urged South Korea and Japan to understand their” roots” and reject Western influences.

Wang Yi, who is in charge of the Communist Party’s international policy and spoke at a multilateral conference on Monday in the northeast area of Qingdao, claimed that American forces had purposefully” played up philosophical differences between the nations ,” according to state media.

According to a saving shared by the state-run patriotic sheet the Global Times and reported by another Beijing media, he even argued for racial equality between the three nations, saying that” Europeans and Americans doesn’t differentiate between Chinese, Japanese, and South Koreans.”

We cannot be Westerners, he declared,” no matter how bright our scalp is dyed or how sharply we change our nostril.”

” We ought to be aware of where our roots are.”
