Russia’s Lavrov calls for efforts to protect international laws and regulations

HANOI: Russian International Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday (Jul 6) called on all parties on earth to make efforts to protect international laws because “the world is evolving in a difficult manner”.

Lavrov was talking though a translator at a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi.

His comments come since Russia has been offender by Western nations of breaching international law through the invasion of Ukraine. European Union leaders have got urged Moscow in order to abide by an purchase by the international courtroom of justice telling Russia to pull away from Ukraine.

“Vietnam is a key partner (of Russia) in ASEAN… as well as the two countries’ relationships are based on history plus their common fight for justice, ” Lavrov said at the conference, referring to the Association of Southeast Oriental Nations.

Vietnam and Russia possess close ties dating back to the Soviet period and Hanoi has not so far condemned Russia’s war in Ukraine, which Moscow calls a “special operation”.

Lavrov’s visit to Hanoi comes as the 2 nations mark the 10th anniversary of the “comprehensive strategic partnership”.
