Vietnam’s Nguyen Phu Trong, longtime leader and advocate of ‘bamboo diplomacy’, dies

HAMMER AND SICKLE

Trong’s law became stronger in his second five-year phrase, and despite his health problems, he won a unique second term in 2021, the party removing a provision that limited the party’s power to two terms.

All in all, he held the party main place for 13 years, next only to Le Duan, who ruled with an iron fist for 26 years after the death of Vietnam’s foundation innovative Ho Chi Minh.

Vietnam continued to flourish under Trong, benefiting from the 1986″ Doi Moi” measures that transformed it from a war-torn economic state into one of Asia’s fastest-growing markets.

Vietnam’s annual GDP growth rate over the past ten years was on par with 5.8 %, and it managed to maintain that rate even after the coronavirus pandemic that devastated other countries.

According to a history, Trong was born and raised in the cities of Hanoi and raised in the company of a farmer few. He was also engaged in folk books from a youthful age. He had a major in science, which is the study of language and traditional texts, at college, and one of his first publications was a 1967 evaluation of folk poetry.

He then spent two years studying in the Soviet Union before getting his political knowledge PhD, which focused on the Vietnam Communist Party’s efforts to bolster its influence over the populace. In 1991, he became editor-in-chief of the group’s Communist Review newspaper.

Trong’s persona was that of a man who detested excessive, resided in modestly appointed state-appointed homes, and turned down friends’ pricey Lunar New Year presents.

Two publications- each some 600 webpages much and published by the group in 2019 and 2021 both, extolled Trong’s virtues- efforts that some critics likened to an effort at building a cult of personality.

Trong is described as a “benefit gentleman, sent by the spirits to clean the system,” in a poem from the first book, which seems to make reference to the problem crackdown. ” Hammer and sickle in hand, he dispels darkness, waiting for the sunshine”, it said.

Trong was married with a boy and a girl. His kids, unlike those of other high-ranking authorities, are standard public servants, federal officials have said.
