At the start of Lee Ek Tieng, the Green General of Lee Kuan Yew, previously in February, Grace Fu, the minister of sustainability and environment, paid tribute to Mr. Lee.
Ms Fu described Mr. Lee as” a president, a trailblazer, and a true engineer of modern Singapore’s economic conversion” in a speech.
” Mr. Lee Ek Tieng was one of those exceptional people- a man of action, resolve, and tremendous capability,” said Ms. Grace Fu.  ,
” Those who worked with him will be able to say that he was complete, creative, and not one to suffer morons.”
She also praised Mr. Lee’s other accomplishments, such as modernizing waste collection and waste, controlling air pollution, and upgrading Singapore’s drainage system to stop flooding.  ,
Ms Fu praised Mr. Lee as “one of the natural heroes of Singapore during our first independence” who had a key role in making the island from a city of filthy squatters to one of clean and green.
Mr. Lee was in charge of the construction of stalls centers during the cleaning of the Singapore River. ” Street hawkers were relocated to these stalls centers so they could make their food in a safe culture,” said Ms Fu.
In addition, Mr. Lee spearheaded efforts to eradicate malaria and various mosquito-borne illnesses in the nation and was instrumental in the development of Singapore’s first Water Master Plan in 1972, which laid out the plans for the country’s local water resources.
He was the initiator of the creation of NEWater to recycle water and supply the majority’s growing water requirements. In truth, he was the author of the name’s current cliche. ” Mr Fu said.
