Simona Halep yet to drop a set at Wimbledon as she beats Amanda Anisimova to reach semifinals

Halep, who seem to had to take an extended split from the sport last year while she recovered from the calf injury, looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory on Wednesday, easily wrapping up the first set and moving two fractures up in the second.
Yet Anisimova hit back with a break of her own and directed 0-40 with Halep serving for the fit, only for the Romanian to win the next five points inside a row, claiming the victory when Anisimova drifted a backhand long.
It means Halep is still yet to drop a set at this year’s tournament and is well-placed to win her third grand throw title and second at Wimbledon.
“Definitely, I have played the best football (since 2019), ” she said within her on-court interview. “I struggled a great deal last year and now Now i’m just trying to build my confidence back again.
“(My) tennis is here, so I just have to believe. I’ve started to do this and it feels good. ”

Halep will certainly next face Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina following the 17th seed’s 4-6-2 6-3 return win against Australia’s Ajla Tomljanović within the other women’s semifinal on Wednesday.
“It’s great to be in the semifinals, ” Halep added. “I’m really emotional right now since it means a lot to become back in the semis. I actually played a tough opponent today, she could crush the golf ball in the end.
“I failed to know actually what to do, but I just thought in myself, We said I have to remain there strong upon my legs — they helped me today — and I believed till the end that I can win. inch
Halep raced into a 5-1 lead against Anisimova as she broke her opponent on 1-1 and 3-1 before taking after that first set in half an hour.
