Myanmar workers accuse compatriot of visa swindle

SAMUT PRAKAN: Thirteen Myanmar employees on Tuesday filed a complaint along with police, accusing the Myanmar woman associated with swindling them each out 10, 000 baht for promised alien identification cards and visa extensions she failed to supply.

These were led by Myself Tu, 53, and accompanied by lawyer Krisda Trisanputtachart when they submitted their complaints with Samrong Tai police in Phra Pradaeng district. They recognized the accused woman as San Win.

Microsoft Me Tu said she and the girl colleagues worked at a factory in Soi Preeda, tambon Samrong Rai. She had been introduced by the girl friends to Microsoft San Win plus her husband around June. Ms San Win claimed the lady was a broker who else could get them peculiar ID cards and have their visas prolonged, enabling them to continue working in Thailand.

She mentioned 33 migrants as a whole, including herself, compensated 10, 000 baht each to Microsoft San Win. A few paid in cash and other transferred the cash to her account by mobile phones.

They waited and waited, and then inquired Ms San Win where were the promised documents. She was evasive, stating only that the demands for the documents were still being processed, Ms Me Tu said.

On Sept eleven they learned that Ms San Win got fled with the money, prompting them to file police complaints.
