Jailed former Malaysia PM Najib transferred to rehabilitation hospital: Prisons department

On Aug twenty three, the Federal Courtroom dismissed Najib’s attract overturn a 12-year-jail term and RM210 million (US$46 million) fine over 7 charges in the case concerning funds from SRC International, a former device of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The charges against Najib, who seem to served as prime minister from this year to 2018, involved the transfer of RM42 million from SRC International in to his personal checking accounts in 2014 plus 2015.

He was found responsible on three matters of criminal breach of trust, three counts of money washing and one count of abuse of energy by the High Court in July 2020.

The certainty and sentence had been upheld by the Court of Appeal upon Dec 8, 2021. Najib later submitted a petition associated with appeal to the Federal Court on Apr 25 this year.

He began serving their sentence at the Kajang Prison in Selangor immediately on August 23 after the Government Court decision.

On Sep twelve, Najib’s ongoing 1MDB trial was reduce short when the Higher Court was told that the former prime minister’s health condition had been “quite bad” plus needed medical attention.

The prosecution group told the High Courtroom judge that Najib needed to be sent to hospital for medical attention since the high blood pressure medication this individual was taking had given him negative effects.

The former prime minister was earlier treated for their stomach ulcer, their daughter said on Instagram.

The ongoing 1MDB trial is Najib’s second corruption case. He was arrested of 25 costs of money laundering and abuse of energy related to 1MDB funds totalling RM2. 3 or more billion.

The trial is scheduled to resume next Mon.
