SURAT THANI: Ferries in order to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan started again on Tuesday, yet small boats were advised to remain on land until 5am upon Wednesday due to higher winds and solid waves.

Seatran Ferry Company and Racha Ferry Co resumed solutions from a pier in Don Sak region to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan on Tuesday morning.

The ferries also took passengers and automobiles from the two well-known islands to a pier in Don Sak.  

The provincial tragedy prevention and mitigation office earlier ordered   all ships and boats to not leave the shores in all districts located on the coast of the Gulf of mexico of Thailand through 2pm on Mon to 5am on Tuesday, as storms whipped up high seas in the gulf of mexico.

Upon Tuesday, the agency banned boats with less than 200 major tonnes or lower than 24 metres in length from leaving the particular shores from 1pm until 5am on Wednesday after the Meteorological Department issued a solid wind wave warning for the gulf.

Ferries plus large passenger vessels were allowed to work while speedboats plus small tourism motorboats were banned from operating on five routes – Muang district-Koh Phangan-Koh Tao, Don Sak-Koh Samui, Don Sak-Koh Phangan-Koh Tao, Koh Samui-Koh Phangan-Koh Tao plus Koh Phangan-Koh Tao-Chumphon.
