Flooding in Pakistan kills dozens as heavy monsoon rains lash the country

QUETTA, Pakistan: Intense floods killed dozens of people and left hundreds homeless in Pakistan, officials said on Sunday (Jul 9), as heavy monsoon rains battered the country.

In the southern part of province of Balochistan, 57 people, which includes women and children, were killed after becoming swept away within flood waters, based on Ziaullah Langove, the particular disaster and home affairs advisor towards the province’s chief ressortchef (umgangssprachlich), adding that 8 dams had burst open due to the heavy rains.

Hundreds more were left homeless after their houses collapsed in the rain and flooding, this individual said, adding monsoon rains were ongoing.

Pakistan’s Navy mentioned it was joining efforts to evacuate citizens and deliver rations and fresh water in Balochistan.
