Contra lanes at both land checkpoints should be opened to ease traffic congestion: JB chief minister

In an effort to reduce severe traffic congestion, the Johor state government has recommended the opening of the & nbsp, contra lanes at the Sultan Iskandar Building ( BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex( KSAB ).

According to the Immigration & amp, Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) on Friday( Jun 2 ), close to 250, 000 people left Singapore through Woodlands and Tuas checkpoint on June 1, the highest number since the reopening of the land borders.

This was caused by” constant tailbacks” brought on by the Vesak Day long weekend and the June school breaks, according to ICA. & nbsp,

Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Johor chief minister and nbsp, commented on the heavy traffic in a Facebook post on Friday night that the congestion had been” extraordinary” and the state government was working to reduce it.

He continued,” I have asked the administration of BSI and KSAB to consider opening the contra lanes particularly for travelers using the walkway and public transport, particularly during school breaks or extended festivals, to confirm that this does not happen again.”

” During specific times, such as class breaks or festive periods, this de street can get activated for inbound and outbound moves from the nation.”

Additionally, Mr. Onn Hafiz, who attended the BSI on Friday, advised users of the Causeway and the Tuas Second Link to schedule their routes in advance to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Since Friday, images of the traffic congestion at the BSI have been posted on social media.

Additionally, Indonesian authorities have urged motorists to follow the nation’s traffic laws, particularly foreign individuals using the entry and exit routes and nbsp in Johor.

Due to an increase in the number of travelers from the republic, the main entry point into the country from Singapore was clogged today( Jun 2 ) at the & nbsp, Sultan Iskandar Building( BSI ), and Sultan Abu Bakar( KSAB ) Complex, according to Johor police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat.

” Johor authorities have taken proactive measures and nbsp to ensure efficient traffic circulation at the concerned grounds.”

He continued by saying that in order to maintain smooth traffic flow at BSI and KSAB, summonses were issued to travelers who were caught jumping the lane and were instructed to return to Singapore.

Vehicles attempting to get around the line when entering Malaysia via the two land checkpoints will be denied entry and redirected back to Singapore, Mr & nbsp, Onn Hafiz, and others warned in a Facebook post on Friday.
