China envisions computing power as a future utility

China will certainly build a national computing net that allows people to consume and spend on computing power upon demand but its street to success will be long and difficult.

Gao Wen, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as the director at the Shenzhen-government-owned Peng Cheng Laboratory, stated in a forum on Aug 6 that China’s computing net would connect all major computing centers in the land to provide standardized providers – similar to a power grid where consumers buy electricity.
