TEHRAN:  , An Egyptian court sentenced six men to death for killing a military force part during 2022 protests over a Kurdish person’s suicide in custody, Fars news agency reported.
In November 2022, Arman Aliverdi, a part of the Basij charity militia affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, was stabbed in the Tehran city of Ekbatan, killing him.
Fars quoted Babak Paknia, the attorney of one of the six accused, as saying they had been issued the “primary word of punishment” over the 21-year-old’s shooting.
The ruling, from the 13th unit of the criminal court, could be appealed, he added on social media platform X.
Aliverdi was killed at the top of months-long protests sparked by the September 2022 dying of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old cultural Kurd, after her imprisonment in Tehran for an alleged violation of the region’s strict dress code for women.
Hundreds of people were killed during the marches, including lots of security personnel.
Some of the people who were accused of participating in rallies and the shooting of security forces were also given death by the Islamic Republic.
Gholamreza Rasaei was found guilty of murdering a Revolutionary Guards agent during the demonstrations, and Iran executed him in August.
In addition to the number of people who were put to death for death or other violent acts during the road upheaval, his murder increased to 10.
According to human rights organizations like Amnesty International, Iran performs more people annually than any other country, aside from China.
