PATTANI- On Wednesday, a drip from an ice factory in the Muang district of this southwestern border province caused 18 people to be sick and had to be evacuated and schools were shut down.

Around 9am on Wednesday, the drip occurred at the Rongnamkhaenglot Sofapattani Co.’s ice-making facility in Tambon Taluboh.

Eighteen workers tried to contain the hole, but they were exposed to the oil, causing nausea, vision irritation, breathing difficulties, and diarrhea. They were rushed to Pattani Hospital.

The district’s emergency vehicles, fire engines, and rescue personnel were therefore ordered by local authorities to the scene. While some attempted to reach the source of the hole, firefighters sprayed water to lessen the impact of the hole and neutralize the vapors.

Witnesses claimed that a metal object fell while oil containers were being checked by employees, causing a large ammonia pipe to burst.

Pateemoh Sadeeeyamu, the government of Pattani, arrived quickly at the field. She transformed the administrative center of Taluboh into a treatment facility for the sick.

She also demanded that local authorities order the closing and eviction of local schools and childcare centers for the protection of children. She likewise urged local authorities to urge residents to use masks and ring off the scene.

” People who live five kilometers away from the snow flower should use N95 or face mask layers,” advised Ms. Pateemoh.

At around 2pm the valves were closed and the hole stopped, she said.

The government continued, adding that there were about 20 ice plants in Pattani that used ammonia and that there had been a couple instances of these in the area.
