Marine Police chief transferred over smuggled oil

Pritthipong Nuchanat, the head of the Sea Police, has been moved to an inert post to make way for an exploration into next month’s disappearance of three boats and seized oil.

A resource reported on Monday that Pol Maj Gen Pritthipong was moving to the CIB activity center after Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej, the director of the Central Investigation Bureau, signed the move get on Friday.

Pol Lt Gen Jirabhob even appointed Pol Col Pornsak Laorujiralai, assistant commander of the Crime Suppression Division, to act as the Marine Police chief.

The move came after three boats carrying seized fuel vanished in Chon Buri state in June after leaving a Marine Police pier. Although the modified fish vessels were retrieved, their seized fuel cargo was missing.

In connection with this situation, four employees at the Sea Police were originally transferred.

On March 19, five boats were seized and docked at the Sea Police wharf in Sattahip, Chon Buri. 330 000 gallons of smuggled crude were contained in three of them complete. Twenty-eight staff individuals were detained and eventually released on bail. On the night of June 11, three of these vessels, along with 15 staff people, disappeared.

On June 17, police after recaptured the three boats near Malaysia’s maritime border, near almost bare oil tanks. The oil was discovered to have been sold while they were docked in Cambodia.
