In light of open criticism about his frequent travels overseas since taking office, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has pledged to stay away from it for the next two decades.

The primary secretary wrote on his X bill that he heard the censure, and he was thankful for people’s opinions and ideas.

” From March 14 to May 15, I wo n’t travel abroad. I’ve heard the opinions and problems. I’ll explore the Mor Chit vehicle terminal, which is used by lower- income earners. But I insist my excursions worldwide are for the world’s best curiosity”, he said.

His article was allegedly a response to a columnist’s article in the Prachachart Thurakij newspapers, Sorakol Adulyanont.

The journalist urged Mr. Srettha to take more time with home issues, visit the bus terminal, or watch fire-fighting operations in the region suffocated by great particles pollution.

The columnist even brought up the prime minister’s own observation that a leader must take into account people’s opinions, yet those he might not want to hear.

Reviewers, including Senator Somchai Sawangkarn, just took Mr Srettha to work over his regular trips abroad.

Our prime minister must have the most foreign visits a country’s president has ever made. The big question is: Where are the results”? Mr Somchai said.

During the past six months, the prime minister has reportedly traveled 15 times abroad for about 30 % of his time in office.

His new travels included trips to Germany and France, which were followed by an official trip to Australia, where he took part in the Melbourne 2024 Asean-Australia Special Summit.

Mr. Srettha has remained unwavering in his commitment to promoting hospitality and investments in Thailand.
